Best Gadgets for Bookworms

With all of the gadgets and the new technology that we now relate to reading and books, it’s easy to forget the actual reading part. But for all you bookworms out there, these advances are just an added cherry on top to an already pleasurable experience.

So, what do you really want as a bookworm? Sure, just a book is fine. But what about those tech savvy bookworms out there? What do we really want?

1) An E-Reader

There are tons to choose from – the Nook, the Kindle, the Kobo, the Sony e-reader – and it can be a bit overwhelming to choose. But if you are a true bookworm, an e-reader should be on your must buy list for this year. Not only can you find some pretty amazing deals for e-books, but so many talented self published authors release their work through this type of platform, and you want to make sure you catch their next brilliant piece.

2) Headphones (for audio books craze)

Next on the reading technology craze are audio books. No, books on tape are not a new thing, but somehow we have rekindled our relationship with this familiar technology. Your latest and greatest smartphone can be a rewarding provider of your audio book needs, and what better way to reward your latest interest with a new pair of headphones.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes those tiny little cheap earbuds I buy for a few dollars at the grocery store don’t exactly do my book justice. I really want to experience the book most of all, even if I don’t have the chance to sit down for an hour or two and read.

3) Book Lights

This is yet another piece of technology that has been with us since we have loaned out books to friends who like dog ear the pages. The technology is advancing though. Not only can you purchase book lights for your standard paperback, but you can also purchase a book light for your e-reader. If you didn’t happen to purchase one with a pre-installed light for your nighttime reading, you can still enjoy your evening novel with e-book lights.

4) Book Shelves

Here’s where you can get creative and now is the best time to take advantage of the latest creations out there.  This is more for those of us who are still die hard print book fans. The technology hasn’t exactly escaped you either, because you can purchase some amazing book shelves that fit your eclectic design taste.

5) E-Reader (and Paperback) Stands

So, you might be doing the laundry, or dishes, or doing something that requires the attention of your left and right hand, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be reading. Take out some of the cleverer looking e-reader stands and you will find yourself flipping those pages a lot faster than you were before.
