The Intermediate examinations are an important part of the Andhra Pradesh educational system. Exams were first commenced in the year 1971 under the supervision of the Board. The Board works under the UGC rules and regulations and the entire syllabus and the teaching schedules for the students and the salaries of the teachers and the establishment of new colleges and the affiliation of new colleges comes under jurisdiction of the Board of Intermediate Education of Andhra Pradesh. The state of Andhra is pioneer in dissecting the entire course into a 10+2+3 module. This division helps a student to get proper and systematic education. This entire module is scientifically designed and well crafted. The main objective of this entire course is to sweep the education though out the state of Andhra. Over the years this intermediate examination has not only popularized education took it closer to different sections of the society at the same time it made it accessible for several women present in the society.

Every year several students from different parts of the state appear in this examination. The entire course is divided into two years. At the end of every year students are analyzed on their merits and on their calibre. Several general courses are there such as MPC, BiP.C, MEC, CEC and many more. Students can opt for any one of the course and can appear in the exams.
